LibreOffice 3.3.2 Is Now Available for Download

A few minutes ago, The Document Foundation company launched the second maintenance release of the LibreOfficeb 3.3 open source office suite for Linux, Windows and Macintosh platforms. The next major release, LibreOffice 3.4 will be released in mid May, 2011.
 
LibreOffice 3.3.2 is available now (see download links at the end of the article), for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. The new release fixes some important bugs, updates several translations. Overall it is much stable than the previous release and everyone is encourage to update.

"The community of developers has been able to maintain the tight schedule thanks to the increase in the number of contributors, and to the fact that those that have started with easy hacks in September 2010 are now working at substantial features. In addition, they have almost completed the code cleaning process, getting rid of German comments and obsolete functionalities." - says in the press release.

Highlights of LibreOffice 3.3:

· ability to work with and import SVG files;
· import filter for Lotus Word Pro documents;
· import filter for Microsoft Works documents;
· easily format title pages and numbering in LibreOffice Writer;
· enhanced Navigator Tool in LibreOffice Writer;
· better ergonomics for cell and sheet management in LibreOffice Calc;
· PDF import support;
· slide-show presenter console;
· better report builder;
· comes bundled with lots of great extensions.

"Italo Vignoli, a founder and a steering committee member of The Document Foundation, will be keynoting at Flourish 2011 in Chicago on Sunday, April 3, at 10:30AM, about getting independent from OpenOffice and Oracle, starting The Document Foundation, raising the capital and the first community budget, organizing developers and other work, and outlining a roadmap for future releases and features. " - was stated at the end of the press release.

Oracle's OpenOffice.org is being replaced by the new and acclaimed LibreOffice suite in many Linux distributions, including openSUSE 11.4 and the upcoming Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) operating system.

Download Firefox 4.0 Final

Firefox 4.0 has been finalized and the bits are now available for download to all users, despite the fact that Mozilla has yet to announce the launch of the next generation of its open source browser. 
 
Firefox 4.0 Final is now live on the browser vendor’s FTP servers, and will probably be announced officially either later today or tomorrow, March 22nd, 2011, as initially planned.
 
However, users don’t really have to wait any longer for the browser, especially considering that many had their hopes up that version 4.0 would be released sometime in October or November 2010.

Delayed a few months due mainly to the volume of bugs Mozilla needed to deal with, Firefox 4.0 went through no less than 12 Beta development milestones, and two Release Candidate Builds, the last of which just this past weekend.

Firefox 4.0 brings to the table a variety of new features and enhancements compared to the previous version of the open source browser.

With Firefox 4.0, Mozilla overhauled the graphical user interface dramatically, taking the new UI in a new direction in terms of design when compared to version 3.6 and earlier. 

Personally, I love the new streamlined UI, but I have been hearing quite a lot of criticism from Firefox users about the revamping.

In addition, Firefox 4.0 makes it easier for users to synchronize content over various devices, to manage add-on and Tabs.

Version 4.0 also delivers a massive improvement in terms of performance, with the usual focus on JavaScript.

Of course, there are more improvements, including hardware acceleration, crash protection, privacy enhancements, multi-touch support, etc.

In terms of modern web standards support, Firefox 4.0 is one of the most compliant browsers out there, designed by default to play nice with HTML5, CSS3, SVG, WebM, and others.

Tips Belanja Online

Biasanya kalau tempat belanja online berani beriklan di media nasional artinya tempat belanja itu terpercaya apalagi kalau ada orang-orang terdekat kita pernah membuktikan bahwa belanja disana aman.

Kedua, Bagian pelayanannya lebih dari satu dan online setiap hari. Ini adalah hal penting bagi saya, terutama tempat belanja yang menyertakan layanan berupa YM. Saya selalu melihat seberapa banyak CSnya, kalau hanya satu saya biasanya ragu (ini kalau tips pertama tidak ada) serta kalaupun banyak misalnya ada dua, saya lihat lagi seberapa sering dua CS itu online apa setiap hari atau hanya pada hari-hari tertentu saja. Biasanya kalau hanya pada hari-hari tertentu saja saya juga ragu karena kalau memang itu tempat belanja terpercaya tentu mereka menyediakan CS yang selalu ada setiap waktu bahkan hari minggu sekalipun.

Ketiga, Belanja dibawah Rp.200.000. Kalau tips pertama dan kedua tidak ada juga namun anda ingin sekali membeli barang tesebut maka saya sarankan untuk membeli barang dibawah Rp.200.000. Kenapa mesti di bawah Rp.200.000, hal itu dilakukan agar kita bisa membuktikan dulu. Kalau ternyata barang yang kita beli ternyata dikiirimkan dengan selamat sampai tujuan maka Insya Allah itu tempat belanja online terpercaya namun kalau ternyata tidak dikirim-kirim pesanan kita maka kita tidak akan mengalami kerugian yang besar.

Gadget Impian

Setiap orang pasti memiliki impian, begitu juga saya. Saya punya impian tentang hal teknologi terutama gadget, memang terkadang impian hanya bisa terlihat saja kalau kita tidak mau berusaha meraihnya dan demi impian tentang gadget inilah saya berusaha mengumpulkan uang sedikit demi sedikit agar bisa membeli gadget impian saya, walaupun mungkin tidak bisa membeli sekaligus karena hanya bisa membeli secara cicilan (satu per satu) namun itu sudah sangat menyenangkan saya.

gadget impian saya ini, mungkin juga adalah gadget impian orang banyak juga karena gadget-gadget ini termasuk wah untuk level sekelasnya. Berikut gadget impian saya :

• iPad 2

iPad 2 merupakan generasi terbaru dari iPad. Kenapa saya memilih tablet ini dibandingkan yang pertama atau kompetitornya karena iPad 2 ini lebih tipis jadi akan lebih mudah dipegang (semoga nanti bisa memegangnya dan memilikinya).

• Sony Xperia Play

Gadget pilihan saya yang kedua adalah handphone dan kali ini pilihannya adalah Sony  Xperia Play. Kenapa saya memilih ini karena handphone ini berplatform Android serta menggabungkan teknologi handphone dengan game, jadi akan memudahkan saya kalau jenuh bisa bermain game lewat handphone ini.

Ituldah dua gadget impian saya saat ini, entahlah nanti. Namun untuk sementara saya masih terobsesi terhadap dua gadget ini, semoga saya bisa cepat memilikinya. Amin.
